Tringali Park Recreation Center in Englewood is serving up a new class aimed at introducing adults to the fastest-growing sport in the nation: pickleball. Starting on September 13, the center will hold introductory sessions from noon to 3 p.m. Saturdays, allowing newcomers to learn the game's fundamentals at a nominal fee of $2 per person.
According to a press statement from Charlotte County, the classes are designed to be a "one and done" deal, equipping participants with the necessary skills to hit the courts at a beginner level. Charlotte County Community Services Coordinator Joele Kirkpatrick expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, telling Charlotte County, "Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the country, and Tringali is excited to help residents get involved."
The classes will cover essential skills such as serving, scoring, and gameplay. While the center provides paddles, they encourage participants to bring their own if available. Joele Kirkpatrick emphasized the scheduling convenience by saying, "To make participation easier for those with busy weekday schedules, classes are held on Saturdays," as detailed by Charlotte County.
Those interested should take note of the following class dates: September 13, October 11, November 8, December 13, all in 2025, and continued into the new year with classes on January 10 and February 13, 2026. Eager to build confidence in a welcoming environment, Kirkpatrick said, "Our Intro to Pickleball classes give people a welcoming space to learn the basics, build confidence, and enjoy the game both socially and competitively."
