
Early Thursday morning, a house on Lawelawe Street in Aina Haina caught fire. The Honolulu Fire Department arrived around 4:40 a.m. The house was destroyed and later collapsed, and a nearby house was also damaged, as reported by KITV.
The Honolulu Fire Department brought the fire under control by 5:26 a.m. It took about 40 minutes for nine crews to contain the flames and prevent them from spreading. A nearby resident told Island News that they could "smell smoke from one ridge over."
No one was injured in the fire. The cause and the damage cost are still under investigation, according to Hawaii News Now. The Honolulu Fire Department continues to look into the incident, and more details will be released as they become available.
