A fatal collision in southwest Houston yesterday afternoon has claimed the life of one person, while at least two others sustained injuries, local authorities report. The crash, which involved a Toyota Corolla and a BMW, occurred near the intersection of South Post Oak Road and South Willow Drive around 1:30 p.m., according to a statement obtained by ABC13. Both drivers were rushed to a nearby hospital where one ultimately succumbed to their injuries.
Details from the scene, provided by an HPD sergeant and reported by FOX 26 Houston, suggest that the collision occurred when the BMW, traveling south on South Post Oak and attempting a left turn onto Benning Drive, was hit by the northbound Corolla. The BMW driver is believed to have failed to yield the right of way, causing the tragic incident, which resulted in the fatality of the Corolla driver, identified as a white man in his 60s.
The Houston Police have not yet released the identities of those involved and the condition of the other hospitalized individuals remains undisclosed. Meanwhile, investigators are continuing their examination into the specifics of the crash to determine the cause and whether any charges are to be filed in relation to the incident.
