In a tragic and unforeseen incident, the Huntington Beach Police Department was called to the scene of a fatal traffic collision on McFadden Avenue and Springdale Street this past Friday. According to the official report provided by the Huntington Beach Police Department, the accident occurred at around 2:59 p.m. and involved a blue Yamaha R1 motorcycle and a yellow Ford truck.
The collision resulted in dire consequences for the motorcyclist, a 37-year-old man from Huntington Beach, who sustained life-threatening injuries. Despite the rapid response and efforts of paramedics, the rider was pronounced deceased at the accident site. On the other side, the 60-year-old Ford driver from Victorville was found unharmed. In a statement made by the Huntington Beach Police Department, the Ford driver is said to have cooperated with investigators, and impairment on his part does not appear to be a factor in the accident.
The circumstances leading to the collision are still under scrutiny, as it remains unclear if impairment was a factor for the motorcycle rider. The HBPD Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is actively conducting a thorough investigation of the crash. The preliminary analysis suggests that the truck was stationary on McFadden Ave west of Springdale Street when it was rear-ended by the motorcycle.
The Huntington Beach Police Department has issued a call for witnesses, urging anyone with information about the incident to come forth. Individuals who may have observed the collision or the events leading up to it are encouraged to reach out to HBPD Traffic Investigator C. Houlston at (714) 960-5670.
