A violent altercation over a seemingly minor parking mishap escalated into a stabbing at a Las Vegas park earlier this week, leaving one man in critical condition and the father of an NBA star under arrest. Quenton Marselles Brown, the father of Boston Celtics player Jaylen Brown, is the suspect taken into custody after the incident at All American Park, as confirmed by FOX5 Vegas. The dispute, which began over what witnesses described as a "door ding," quickly turned physical and resulted in multiple stab wounds for the victim.
According to the police report cited by News 3 LV, witnesses recounted that a man later identified as Brown, engaged immediately in a confrontational manner after the door of the SUV he was in reportedly struck another vehicle's door. The incident escalated when the victim slapped the SUV's side mirror, to which Brown allegedly responded by extracting an object from his side and stabbing the victim several times. Brown, who sustained injuries including a broken toe and facial abrasions, was later detained by police. He reportedly "spontaneously uttered that this was all over a door ding" when officers stopped a matching SUV on U.S. 95 near Decatur Boulevard.
The seriousness of the altercation was highlighted by the range of the victim’s injuries. An arrest report obtained by Hoodline detailed stab wounds to the back, chest, and hand of the victim, who also suffered a broken rib. The fight had broken out shortly before a local football practice, and the victim was quickly taken to local hospital where surgery was needed to address the injuries.
Jail records show that Brown, 57, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and was set to appear in court Thursday afternoon. Although he's the father of NBA star Jaylen Brown, police are focusing on the details of the violent incident. It's not yet known if he has a lawyer.
