
A 35-year-old suspect, Patsy Escoto, was taken into custody on charges of attempted murder. The incident occurred on Tuesday, near Chambersburg Bridge in Fillmore, where an adult male victim was found with a stab wound, according to a news release from the Ventura County Sheriff's Office. He was quickly transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The suspect, a Fillmore resident with a history of violence and current probation with search terms, was identified promptly following the stabbing. The identification led to an intensive search involving multiple law enforcement units, including the Fillmore Patrol, Fillmore Detective Bureau, West County Special Enforcement Unit, Sheriff’s Air Unit, and Sheriff’s K9 Unit and they first found her on the county transit system, she got off the bus in Santa Paula and escaped on foot before law enforcement arrived on the scene, as per the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office extended gratitude to the community for its crucial role in providing information, ultimately aiding in the swift arrest of Escoto and they encourage continued vigilance and partnership, as evidenced by the concluding statement in the news release that underscores the importance of community involvement, "We are better at what we do because of our community partnerships." Any tips that lead to the arrest and criminal complaint against the person(s) responsible for this crime may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 through Ventura County Crime Stoppers.
