
A tragic hit-and-run crash in Seminole County resulted in the death of a 25-year-old bicyclist from Winter Springs yesterday night. The Florida Highway Patrol is actively seeking a suspect vehicle, believed to be involved in the incident that occurred around 9:46 p.m. on U.S. Highway 17-92, south of Spartan Drive.
The victim, who was riding within a marked bike lane, was struck by a vehicle that entered the northbound lanes from State Road 414, ClickOrlando reported. According to FHP, after the collision, the vehicle did not stop and continued to head north, leaving the scene. Despite the efforts to save him, the bicyclist was pronounced dead at the site of the crash.
Investigators have a lead on the suspect vehicle, which may be a white BMW with significant front-end damage, including a broken headlight, hood, and undercarriage issues, and possibly a shattered windshield. This vehicle was last seen going northbound on U.S. Highway 17-92 after the incident.
