In the early hours of July 13, amidst the city’s slumber, violence erupted in the 15000 block of Athol Street, Fontana, where a stabbing that seemed to be drawn from the darkest aspects of rivalry and retribution occurred, resulting in life-threatening injuries to the victim, whose identity remains confidential. The assault, now revealed to be gang-related, was said to be fueled by a bitter feud between rival factions.
The Fontana Sheriff's Station, coupled with gang investigators from the Fontana Police Department, delved into the case, their search eventually leading to Jayson Moran, 26, and Justin Meza, 25, both residents of Fontana who were implicated in the violent encounter, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department. This investigative union, through diligence and the service of several search warrants in the cities of Fontana and Colton, was able to gather enough evidence for the arrest of the suspects on August 7.
During the bust, the law enforcement's haul included three firearms, ammunition, high-capacity magazines, a stolen motorcycle, and an assortment of gang paraphernalia; all these items were part of the grim inventory seized during the searches leading up to Moran and Meza's detainment. They are currently being held on $1,000,000 bail each at a San Bernardino County jail for their alleged roles in attempted murder and active participation in a criminal street gang.
