An 18-year-old former City of Tampa intern, Amari Stubbs, was arrested yesterday after being accused of engaging in inappropriate conduct with two underage girls, the Tampa Police Department has reported. According to a news release from the City of Tampa's release, the arrest follows an investigation into Stubbs' interactions with female juveniles between the ages of 12 and 15.

The investigation, which addresses incidents that took place in the latter part of June 2025, revealed that Stubbs began his communication with one of the victims via social media after their initial meeting at Jackson Heights summer camp, and the situation escalated rapidly with requests for nude photos and suggestions of sexual activity, Stubbs, who was born on January 1, 2007, and identified as a black male in the police news release, had his internship with the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department terminated as soon as the allegations emerged.

In addition to this, detectives found evidence pointing to another separate event where Stubbs is alleged to have inappropriately touched a young girl while at the summer camp last month, heightening concerns over his behavior during his time as an intern.

The Tampa Police Department's Fugitive Apprehension Unit took charge leading to the capture and charging of Stubbs with serious felonies, specifically, one felony count of lewd or lascivious molestation where the defendant is over 18 and the victim is 12-15, and one felony count of the use of computer services or devices to solicit certain illegal acts.
