Fort Worth residents have showcased their love for books by collectively logging over 4.6 million minutes in the Mayor’s Summer Reading Challenge. The initiative, which spanned from June 1 through August 9, garnered significant participation with 8,384 registered readers who dedicated themselves to the joy of reading, as reported by the City of Fort Worth.
The final count revealed a notable achievement, with 2,380 participants completing the set goal — adults clocked in 1,000 minutes of reading, while children aimed for 500 minutes. Mayor Mattie Parker expressed her enthusiasm, stating, "I’m thrilled that the Mayor’s Summer Reading Challenge inspired Fort Worth residents to read more than 4.6 million minutes this summer," according to the City of Fort Worth. She emphasized the power of reading in strengthening minds and stimulating imagination.
With the challenge now concluded, the Fort Worth Public Library encourages its patrons to continue pursuing literature. Residents can keep track of their reading habits using the Beanstack app, delve into curated reading suggestions, and participate in interactive activities. Moreover, a slew of resources awaits at the local libraries, ready for eager minds to explore and borrow.
