A recent bust at the New Rome Motel led Franklin County Sheriff's deputies to recover tens of thousands of dollars and a hefty stash of drugs last Thursday. In a routine patrol, a deputy noticed suspicious activity, which later led to the seizure of more than $26,000 in cash and substantial quantities of suspected cocaine and marijuana, as revealed in a social media post by the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.
The encounter began after a deputy observed several individuals loading their vehicle in haste; the officer proceeded to tail the vehicle due to its expired tags and later stopped the car at a Marathon gas station, a licensed K9 named Enzo was brought to the scene who then alerted the officers to multiple suspicious areas in the vehicle, prompting a search that would bring to light both the currency and illegal substances.
On their investigation's advancement, the sheriff's Special Investigations Unit Detectives joined forces with the patrol deputies, uncovering 48 grams of suspected cocaine and 477 grams of marijuana. The substantial find led to the arrests of Tatyannia McGinnis and Brindara Allen-Marshall on first-degree felony possession of drugs charges.
