Last evening in Galt, a juvenile male was the victim of a shooting incident. At approximately 9:30 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of W. E Street and First Street, arriving swiftly to find the injured youth. In the hours that followed, the department stated that the juvenile had been shot but sustained non-life threatening injuries and was then taken to an area hospital for medical attention, as first reported by the Galt Police Department via a social media update.
The suspect, or suspects involved in the shooting managed to elude immediate capture, fleeing the scene before law enforcement arrived. Despite the ongoing nature of the investigation and limited details, the police were quick to assure the community that the event seemed to be isolated and no further danger to the public is suspected as reported by the Galt Police Department.
Officials are actively looking for those responsible for the shooting and have requested that anyone with information to come forward. The Investigations Unit can be reached at (209) 366-7010, and the Galt Police Department underscored the importance of community assistance in their social media post. As the investigation unfolds, updates are promised to be forthcoming from the department.
