Garland residents are slated to see a new feature on their utility bills starting next year: a line item for Tap Telehealth, a program designed to connect them with medical professionals for non-emergency care. As reported yesterday, the Garland City Council approved an agreement with MD Health Pathways to provide telehealth services, aiming to simplify and make healthcare more convenient.

The service, which will cost $6 per month, was included in a city-issued statement, explaining that it offers "connecting patients to doctors via text, phone or video call," making treatment available for a wide range of ages and needs. This fee will automatically be added to the utility bills of Garland residents, covering unlimited use for up to 10 household members. It has been emphasized that enrollment isn't mandatory, with the option to opt out available to anyone who prefers not to participate, per the City of Garland.

Set to launch in late spring or early summer of 2026, Tap Telehealth will be preceded by a pilot program and a concerted effort from the city to keep its residents informed. Among the planned outreach are town hall meetings and inserts in the Garland City Press and utility bills. The intention is to ensure that Garland citizens are fully aware of the service's benefits and how to engage with it—or not, should they choose to opt out.
