Georgia's agricultural sector is set to reap significant benefits following a series of trade agreements lauded by Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J Harper. In a nod to the Trump Administration's efforts, Harper highlighted the deals' positive impact on Georgia farmers, particularly through access to new markets and improved economic conditions.

"President Trump continues to deliver for Georgia farmers, and his recent trade deals, particularly with the EU, are an undeniable victory for American agriculture and for farm families in Georgia and across the country," Harper said. According to a recent publication by the Georgia Department of Agriculture, the landmark pact with the European Union targets the elimination of tariffs on U.S. agricultural exports and promises considerable EU investments that bolster the U.S. economy.

The agreement with the EU includes the elimination of all tariffs on U.S. industrial goods - like agricultural machinery - and ensures $600 billion in EU investments with an additional $750 billion in American energy exports by 2028. This is expected to strengthen rural infrastructure and decrease reliance on contested sources.

Harper also noted the recent U.S.-South Korea Trade Agreement, stating that "The U.S. will impose a 15% tariff on South Korean goods, down from a proposed 25%," which favors American autos and agricultural goods, as reported by the Georgia Department of Agriculture.

Georgia farmers, who have long sought fairer trading conditions, appear to be at the forefront of the Administration's economic policy, with new deals also inked with the United Kingdom, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Japan. These agreements collectively open doors to global markets for Georgia Grown commodities. With Harper's endorsement, Georgia's agricultural community is poised to experience a substantial lift from these international engagements.
