Thurman's journey with GDC began in 2012 as a Correctional Officer and then as a Field Training Officer in the Special Management Unit in 2017. Her experience has spanned several specialized roles, including her tenure as a Behavioral Health Counselor II at Metro Reentry Facility and a Facility Compliance Specialist for ACA. Since 2020, Thurman has been serving at GDCP as a Behavioral Counselor III, all while earning degrees in Business Administration and Criminal Justice from Paine College, Kaplan University, and Columbia Southern University respectively. Her departmental training is extensive, covering various levels of correctional officer training, supervision, and management.
