
The streets of Gilbert may soon become a bit safer, thanks to a fresh inflow of grant funds directed towards combating impaired driving. The Gilbert Police Department (GPD) received a $15,000 grant aimed at enhancing the efforts of law enforcement to identify and educate drivers under the influence. These funds, originating from the Oversight Council on Driving or Operating Under the Influence Abatement (DUI Abatement Council) in conjunction with the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS), promise to not only fuel overtime for officers conducting statewide training courses but also to more effectively enforce DUI laws.
The Gilbert Police Department has received a grant aimed at strengthening efforts to combat impaired driving.
