The Town of Gilbert has a fresh face in its leadership team, welcoming Mario Paniagua as the new Assistant Town Manager, an appointment announced with a blend of anticipation for his future contributions and recognition of his extensive career in public service. Gilbert's own announcement highlights Paniagua's anticipated role in overseeing critical departments such as Parks and Recreation and Finance and Management Services, where his previous experiences are expected to harmonize with the strategic objectives of the town.
In a statement brimming with the optimist spirit typical for such announcements, Paniagua himself expressed his excitement, "I am thrilled to be a part of the Town of Gilbert’s exceptional and innovative team," and not just satisfied with this he also remarked on the honor he feels at the opportunity to shape the future of Gilbert, a sentiment echoed by Town Manager Patrick Banger who is equally enthusiastic about the experience and alignment with core values Mario is bringing to the table. Paniagua has indeed carved a notable public service journey starting in 1998 with the City of Phoenix, where his responsibility umbrella recently covered significant operations like Aviation and Public Transit upholding sustainability along with the more mundane yet critical facets like Public Works, as per the town's website.
Paniagua, besides sporting a summa cum laude Bachelor of Science in Global Business from Arizona State University, also wears the badge of a seven-year commitment to the U.S. Air Force, a part of his multidimensional career path. His record shows a clear trajectory that balances the demands of city management and the steady hand of fiscal guidance, a combination Gilbert anticipates will serve well in the management of the town's strategic imperatives.
Gilbert is reorganizing its structure to boost efficiency, including moving its Engineering Department from Public Works to the Town Manager’s Office to better manage its major Capital Improvement Program. Alongside these changes, Mario Paniagua has been appointed to a new role, with the town encouraging residents and stakeholders to welcome him as Gilbert looks toward a period of growth and stronger community focus.
