Governor Greg Abbott has added three items to the agenda for Texas’s second special legislative session.
According to the Office of the Texas Governor website, the first item seeks to establish punishments for lawmakers who leave the state during a session, referencing recent Democratic walkouts. The second would allow Texans to obtain Ivermectin directly from pharmacies. The third directs the Texas Water Development Board to conduct studies of East Texas aquifers before approving new permits or amendments.
Abbott stated that these additions are intended to address legislative accountability, healthcare access, and environmental concerns. The proposals will now be considered by the Texas Legislature during the ongoing special session.
