During the celebration of tradition and future careers, Texas Governor Greg Abbott marked the Texas Department of Public Safety’s 90th anniversary, commemorating the milestone for both the institution and the newest class of troopers. The ceremony took place at Great Hills Baptist Church, where Abbott delivered the keynote address to the graduating class of recruitment cycle A-2025, according to the Governor's office.
The new troopers come from diverse backgrounds, with a class composition reflecting 52 military veterans, 19 women, 14 individuals with prior law enforcement experience, and 55 capable of communicating in multiple languages, reported in the statement from the Governor’s office. These graduates will soon take their posts at their respective duty stations across the state, come September 1.
State officials and law enforcement dignitaries convened alongside Governor Abbott to witness this momentous occasion, including Public Safety Commission (PSC) Commissioner Larry Long, PSC Commissioner Nelda Luce Blair, and DPS Director Freeman Martin. Each offered their own words of support and welcomed the graduates to a career of service and vigilance in protecting Texas.
