A tragic family incident unfolded in Nevada County yesterday, where a mother was shot by her own son, who then led authorities on a brief chase before taking his own life. According to the Nevada County Sheriff's Office, the response to the disturbance was initiated after receiving a call to a residence on Glen Meadow Drive in Grass Valley.
The responding officers discovered a woman with major injuries that "required immediate medical attention," subsequently transporting her to a hospital in Placer County, where she later succumbed to her injuries, as mentioned on ABC10. Not long after escaping the scene on a motorcycle, her son evidently decided to wrongfully split his time between evading the law and confronting a finale he had scripted himself. The chase came to an end at the intersection of Squirrel Creek Rd. and Adam Avenue, concluded by the suspect's self-inflicted gunshot.
Both victims in this shocking event have yet to be publicly identified, pending next of kin notifications. The sheriff's office has not released further details surrounding the motives of the attack. However, local news affiliates picked up on the story, indicating the familial connection between the assailant and the victim. KCRA reported that the victim was identified as the attacker's mother, though their identities remain withheld at this time.
Further insight into this case has been sparse, but the incident remains under investigation by Nevada County authorities, as per FOX40.
