Williamson County, in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), officially commenced construction on a new ramp at SH 195 and Ronald Reagan Boulevard. This groundbreaking move, which took place on August 4th, introduces measures to enhance safety and streamline traffic in Georgetown. The single ramp is designed to connect westbound SH 195 directly to Ronald Reagan Boulevard, thereby eliminating the treacherous necessity for vehicles to make a left turn across oncoming traffic to attain their destination via Rattlesnake Road.

Commissioner Pct. 3 Valerie Covey expounded on the project's importance, saying, "It’s another great day in Precinct 3 and the start of another great project for our road bond program." Covey further emphasized the safety benefits, especially for Sun City residents and forthcoming developments along Ronald Reagan Boulevard, "Providing direct access from SH 195 to Ronald Reagan will make it much safer for drivers who are currently crossing the roadway in front of fast-moving traffic," she told Williamson County News.

WGI has taken the helm as the project engineer, with Joe Bland Construction undertaking the actual build. The ramp, with an estimated price tag of $3.6 million, is a piece of a voter-approved 2019 WilCo Road Bond. Expected to be finished by summer 2026, this is a step forward in the county's broader infrastructure plan.

Looking beyond the initial ramp, Williamson County and TxDOT are set to construct additional ramps connecting SH 195 to Ronald Reagan Boulevard. Construction on these remaining three ramps is tentatively slated to start come spring 2027. These subsequent phases will be funded through the voter-backed 2023 WilCo Road Bond, affirming the county's commitment to continuously seeking to improve local transportation infrastructure.
