Residents in parts of Gulf Cove are bracing for a water service interruption scheduled for next Wednesday. According to an announcement posted on the Charlotte County website, the outage is expected to start at 8 a.m. and could extend until 5 p.m. The interruption will affect those within the boundary highlighted in red on the county's site.
The necessity of the interruption comes as officials work to quickly to make repairs and improvements to the local water system. Customers in the affected area are being told to prepare to be without water service during the maintenance hours. Once the water pressure is restored, a boil advisory will be put into effect until further notice, ensuring residents' health is not compromised by potential contaminants.
This means that those living in the designated area should plan ahead for their water needs throughout the day. Stored water or alternative sources should be considered for drinking, cooking, and essential sanitation throughout the service disruption. Affected residents will also need to boil their water once the service resumes, following prescribed guidelines, to ensure safety before consumption or use in cooking.
Charlotte County officials are yet to release a precise time when the boil advisory will lift; the county has assured that it will keep the public informed. Residents are encouraged to carefully follow the boil water notice and heed all guidance from local health and safety regulations.
