
A back-to-school community health fair in west Charlotte was interrupted by gunshots on Saturday. The event at the C.W. Williams Community Health Center on Wilkinson Boulevard was stopped, but no injuries were reported, according to QC News.
No arrests were made at the scene of a reported shooting at the C.W. Williams’ Back to School Community Health Fair. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has not released additional details but advised checking their crime mapping tool for the incident report number. MEDIC said they were not called to the scene. There were no injuries, and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded quickly. U.S. Congresswoman Dr. Alma Adams said, "I’m grateful that no one was injured at C.W. Williams’ Back to School Community Health Fair after the reported shooting and I want to thank the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for their quick response to the incident," as per WCNC.
After the event ended, reports said a parent was arrested for firing shots into the air, as mentioned by Charlotte Observer. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has not confirmed or given details. The annual health fair connects neighbors with vendors and volunteers to provide resources for children and families before school starts.
