A 23-year-old man from Hawthorne has been arrested following a violent altercation that occurred at the Rose Bowl during a RÜFÜS DU SOL concert. Julio Cesar Lopez Zavala is alleged to have assaulted three people in attendance, sparking a significant outcry among concertgoers and prompting an investigation by the Pasadena Police Department.
The incident, which took place on August 16 and quickly escalated into physical violence, was reportedly instigated by a spilled drink. According to a statement obtained by KTLA, the victim, who chose not to be identified, and her friends had apologized for the accident. Still, Lopez Zavala accused them of spilling the drink intentionally before leaving the area. Roughly 30 minutes later, he returned to confront and then assault the group aggressively.
Social media played a critical role in the aftermath of the disturbance, as a video capturing the attack went viral, leading to increased pressure for a swift response from authorities. Using the footage and tips from the public, officers were able to identify and arrest Zavala in Hawthorne, as reported by FOX LA.
Zavala has not been charged at this time, as per FOX LA. The Pasadena Police have submitted the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for review.
