Heads up, drivers and commuters in the area, you’re going to want to reroute your GPS settings for the weekend ahead. Hillsborough County officials have announced that a portion of Race Track Road, just north of South Mobley Road, will see a temporary shutdown beginning Thursday at 7 p.m. and running through the early morning of Monday next week. This closure is needed to complete underground utility work in the area.
Construction crews are working to improve the roadway between South Mobley Road and Sri Chinmoy Street. The road is expected to reopen before the new week, weather permitting. Drivers are advised to use South Mobley Road and Gunn Highway as alternate routes during the construction.
Local authorities are advising drivers to plan ahead and use alternate routes while the corridor is temporarily closed for road improvements. The closure may cause brief travel delays, but the work is aimed at enhancing the roadway for future use.
Any schedule changes due to weather or other factors will be reported by local news sources. Authorities aim to reopen the road in time for Monday traffic.
