
In a routine traffic stop turned drug bust, Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies apprehended a 64-year-old man found with a sizable quantity of Methamphetamine, cash, and drug paraphernalia. Joseph Perrone was pulled over on Friday, at the intersection of 5th Avenue Southeast and 2nd Street Southeast in Ruskin after a deputy noticed the vehicle's irregularities.
The situation escalated when Perrone admitted to the deputy that he was driving without his license or registration. According to a social media post from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, upon exiting the vehicle, pills were seen on the car floor, giving probable cause for a search. This search resulted in the discovery of a plastic tub containing a trafficking amount of Methamphetamine, precisely 15.9 grams, alongside $12,043 in cash, multiple glass pipes, and syringes strongly associated with the illegal substance.
Perrone, faced with the evidence found in his vehicle, was placed under arrest. He has been charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Trafficking in Amphetamine 14 to 28 Grams. The arrest and charges were detailed in the aforementioned social media post by the sheriff's office, keeping the community abreast of their continuous efforts to intercept illegal drug activities within their jurisdiction.
