The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation (HDOT) has announced a temporary halt to traffic between 3:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. Emergency crews are set to remove rock and debris, a task that requires both lanes at mile marker 8.5 to be closed intermittently.
According to HDOT, drivers should expect "short holds of traffic between 10 to 15 minutes" to allow debris to be cleared safely. The measures are in place to protect both work crews and motorists. HDOT urges all drivers to "obey all traffic controls and drive safely around the workers."
