Tragedy struck a Houston neighborhood when a 13-year-old boy was fatally shot in his family's apartment. The incident occurred yesterday afternoon in the southwest area of the city. The Houston Police Department confirmed they found evidence of the shooting in the parking lot of an apartment complex on South Dairy Ashford Road near the Westpark Tollway. Rushed to a hospital, the young victim later succumbed to his injuries, as reported by KHOU.
According to investigators, the shooting happened around 3:15 p.m. along Ashford Meadow Drive. Arriving officers discovered the boy had been shot while inside the living room, as per a report by ABC13. As the HPD Homicide Division continues to piece together the events that led to the boy's death, they urge the public for assistance. "At this time, there are no known motives, suspects or vehicle descriptions," a representative of HPD explained, as noted by KHOU.
