
The Houston Police Department has apprehended a second suspect in connection with last year's fatal shooting that took place on Bellfort Avenue. The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Osirus Chandler, faces murder charges for his alleged involvement in the death of 22-year-old Nicholas Batiste.
According to the City of Houston News, Batiste was found unresponsive, with multiple gunshot wounds, early in the morning on May 22, 2024. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. Chandler was taken into custody on an unrelated charge last Friday then was charged with murder in connection to Batiste's death, the Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division informed Sergeant C. Duncan and Detective V. Nguyen.
Sean Donte Bullard, also 26, had earlier been charged with murder in the same case. In February, the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, alongside the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office, arrested him in Tyler County, Texas. Chandler is currently being held in the Harris County Jail; his case has been assigned to the 185th State District Court. Bullard's case is proceeding in the 228th State District Court.
