After a lengthy investigation spanning several years, authorities have made a breakthrough in a 2018 fatal shooting case. A suspect, identified as 39-year-old Jeremiah Bryant, has been arrested and charged with the murder of Michael Lawson, as confirmed by the Houston Police Department. Lawson was killed on August 15, 2018, when an unidentified shooter fired from a passing vehicle, with Lawson's son bearing witness to the harrowing event, luckily unharmed. The address mentioned in connection with the incident is 15810 Clarke Springs, which was the scene of the crime approximately seven years ago.
The case, handled by HPD Homicide Division Sergeants J. Burton and M. Burrow, slowly unfurled as detectives pieced together evidence that eventually pointed to Bryant as the shooter. According to the City of Houston News, "Mr. Lawson and his son were walking through their neighborhood toward a convenience store near the above address when a brown or burgundy four-door vehicle, possibly a Toyota Camry, approached them." It was from this vehicle that the fatal shots were fired, striking Lawson and leading to his death at the scene.
Yesterday, Jeremiah Bryant was taken into custody, setting in motion the legal proceedings that followed. He now faces murder charges in the 180th State District Court. The authorities have also released a booking photo of Bryant, making public the face of the accused in an act of transparency.
