A fatal collision between a pickup truck and a bicyclist at 5900 Bellaire Boulevard is currently under investigation by Houston police. The incident, which took place around 10 p.m. on Thursday, resulted in the death of a 35-year-old male, whose identity is yet to be verified by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
According to the City of Houston News, the driver of the GMC Sierra pickup was traveling east when the bicyclist entered the vehicle's path from the median. The driver was unable to avoid a collision. Emergency personnel from the Houston Fire Department responded and transported the bicyclist to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The investigation is being led by Sergeant D. Brothers and Officer C. Brothers of the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division. The driver of the GMC remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. No signs of intoxication were observed, and the driver was released following questioning.
