Houston police are actively investigating a deadly crash that took place last Saturday morning at 1200 Durham Drive. The accident, which claimed the life of a 25-year-old man, occurred around 3:30 a.m., as reported by the City of Houston's official news site.
The identity of the deceased is still awaiting confirmation from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. HPD's Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Johnson and Officer Y. Ramirez described a silver Honda CRV traveling at a dangerously high speed. The driver, unable to maintain control of the vehicle, swerved off the road and collided with a light pole before coming to a halt near the intersection of Nett Street.
Paramedics from the Houston Fire Department were dispatched to the scene, where they pronounced the driver dead. The circumstances leading up to the fatal event remain under close examination as authorities continue their inquiry into the crash.
