Houston residents are grappling with a mysterious find — skeletal remains discovered at 814 McIntosh Street. The Houston Police Department (HPD) responded to a call at approximately 9 a.m. last Saturday, making a grim discovery in a residential neighborhood. An official investigation has commenced to uncover the story behind the bones, a task beset with numerous questions yet to be answered.
The initial discovery was made all the more unsettling by its location: amidst items discarded for trash collection. It is reported that officers were summoned to the scene after a report of a human skull found sitting on the ground. Upon arrival, HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Arrington and Officer M. Castillo scrutinized the site, soon to realize that the truth lay deeper. They found it quickly secured the area, leading to the uncovering of additional skeletal remains nearby. Notably, it was a homeless woman who played a pivotal role, as she had previously been seen walking with the skull before leaving it behind at the stated address, according to the City of Houston News.
The HPD has not determined the identity, gender, or cause of death of the individual. They await insights from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, where an autopsy is expected to unravel the details currently ensnared in obscurity. An expert, an anthropologist from the institute, was brought to the scene for meticulous recovery of what is believed to be the mortal traces of one among us, long departed.
The investigation is ongoing, with the HPD Homicide Division spearheading the efforts. The police are reaching out to the public for any information that might help to thread together the narratives of the past with the evidence found in the present. Anyone with knowledge pertaining to this case is encouraged to come forward and contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
