A tragic incident disrupted the flow of traffic and claimed a life on the East Freeway last night, as a pedestrian was struck and killed while attempting to navigate across the congested highway. Click2Houston reports that the westbound lanes of I-10 at Normandy Street were closed for several hours following the event, which occurred shortly after 7 p.m.
Houston Police, according to Lieutenant Larry Crowson, were called to the scene where they found the individual who had been hit by a vehicle while trying to run across the busy highway. Sadly, the person was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not yet been released, and the vehicular flow was restored before 10 p.m., bringing an end to a disrupted evening for many on the road.
Further details shared by FOX 26 Houston include that a blue F-150 was the vehicle involved in the accident. The driver of the pickup truck did stop following the collision, and the Houston Police Department's Vehicular Crimes Division is currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
