In the small town of Covington, Tennessee, a theft at a local Walmart has made headlines with an Illinois duo suspected of stealing over $14,000 in Apple AirPods and other electronic merchandise. According to the Covington Police Department, the incident occurred on August 13, 2025, when officers responded to a felony shoplifting report. The Walmart staff pinpointed two male suspects as the perpetrators, culminating in a theft of a staggering amount of high-value goods.
The suspects apparently didn't skimp on their methods, using stolen tools like a screwdriver, pry bar, and bolt cutters to break into the electronics case and they stuffed the stolen wares into store totes and a trash can—which they also nicked—before slipping out through the Tire Center doors, and despite the seriousness of the crime, on the next day, in what seems like a bold move, the suspects returned to the scene in Walmart vests though they weren't employees, and after being spotted they bolted to the woods but only one got away. The police cornered 26-year-old Reginald Williams in the parking lot, and after initially providing a false name to dodge arrest on active warrants, he was transported to Tipton County Jail with charges now including Aggravated Burglary, Vandalism, Criminal Impersonation, and Theft of Property over $1,000.
Williams is currently being held on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled for a court appearance before General Sessions Judge M.O. Eckel III on August 19, 2025. "Our detectives and analyst are continuing its investigation and anticipate additional charges on the duo," stated Chief Donna Turner, urging anyone with information on the case or the whereabouts of co-suspect Kewan Clay, who remains on the loose, to contact the Covington Police Department.
Clay, 25, is described as a black male with a weight of 129 lbs and a height of 5'07", featuring low-cut hair, an active warrant for his arrest has been issued, rendering him a fugitive, as the search intensifies, the community's engagement is ostensibly crucial, with the police department calling upon the public to divulge any leads on Clay's whereabouts as he may be receiving help to elude capture, anyone with information can reach out to the police department through established communication lines including a phone call, Facebook messenger, or via the City of Covington website.
