A man incarcerated at the Hamilton County Justice Center, already charged with a 2024 shooting in Evanston, now faces additional murder charges from a separate incident that occurred three years prior. FOX19 reported that Dearius Williams, age 20, has been accused of the 2022 murder of John Wilson, 37, who was found dead with a gunshot wound.
According to the WLWT report, Williams was charged on Thursday by the Cincinnati Police Department's Homicide Unit in connection with the fatal shooting that happened on the 3400 block of Woodburn Avenue. Williams, held on a $1 million bond for the previous charge, now stands accused in two shooting incidents less than two years apart.
On June 27, 2022, close to Walnut Hills High School, police officers responded to the 3400 block of Woodburn Avenue and discovered Wilson, who was declared deceased at the scene of the shooting. This area saw another tragic event when a fatal shooting, which Williams is accused of being part of, took the life of 25-year-old De'miko Nelson on February 14, 2024.
Cincinnati.com details that Williams, along with three others, faces charges of murder and felonious assault in the 2024 case. The addition of the 2022 shooting charge compounds the legal challenges Williams is set to navigate, as police continue their ongoing investigations into both incidents.
Authorities urge anyone with information regarding either case to contact the Cincinnati Police Department's Homicide Unit at 513-352-3542. Williams is expected to appear in court on Aug. 25 concerning the new charge, where the tendrils of justice will further entwine to determine the extent of his culpability.
