
A Jacksonville Beach woman has won an $8.75 million Florida Lotto jackpot. ActionNewsJax reports that the Florida Lottery announced 56-year-old Kelly Hagens as the winner from the May 7 drawing. She bought her ticket at J&J Food Store on Beach Boulevard and chose the lump-sum payout of $4,796,665.
First Coast News notes that Florida Lotto drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday, with the current jackpot at $28.25 million.
According to the Tampa Free Press, Hagens claimed her prize on May 9 at Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 22,957,480, while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 7.61. Since the game began in 1988, more than $11 billion in prizes have been awarded, creating 1,099 millionaires, and over $8.51 billion has been contributed to the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
