Jacksonville residents, prepare for a bout of the classic summer storms as the National Weather Service in Jacksonville looks ahead to a week filled with potential showers and thunderstorms, the heats up with temperatures flirting with the 90s.
Residents waking up to a humid 80 degrees this morning can expect the weather to take a turn, according to a recent forecast by the National Weather Service, "Showers and thunderstorms likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after noon," and though it's light breezes now the winds are expected to pick up gusting as high as 16 mph with an 80% chance of precipitation and potential rainfall could range from a light sprinkle to a quarter inch or even higher in some areas due to thunderstorms, which throws a wrench in any outdoor plans.
The unpredictable dance between the sun and clouds continues through the night, bringing only a 30% chance of precipitation before clearing up a bit with partial cloudiness and a cozy low of 77 degrees to curl up in. The rest of the week appears to hold its own share of unpredictability, a classic Florida forecast bingo with chances of showers and thunderstorms said to spike at various intervals throughout the day, hitting a 50% likelihood on Monday, dipping slightly on Tuesday and then revving back up to a 70% chance of rain by Friday, with highs consistently hovering around the upper 80s and even reaching a high near 94 on Thursday.
The sunny intervals promise some respite, but the continued chances of thunderstorms well into the evening hours about as reliable as Florida weather can be, Wednesdays and Thursdays offer a 50% chance for more showers according to the National Weather Service, whose forecast indicates at least on these days that it's not all gloom, the sun is expected to grace the city even as residents keep their umbrellas on standby with the possibility of thunderstorms before 8 pm, the nighttime calming into mostly clear skies, while the lows remain a consistent 77 degrees across the board.
