Jacksonville residents can expect humid and unsettled weather conditions this week. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), today brings a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m., with heat index values possibly reaching 102 degrees.
Tonight, showers and storms may continue before 9 p.m., with a slight chance of showers until 11 p.m. Skies will gradually clear, and temperatures are forecast to drop to around 74 degrees as winds shift from south to west after midnight.
The National Weather Service projects that thunderstorms will continue intermittently over the next several days, particularly after 2 p.m. each day. Rain chances are expected to increase through the week, reaching 80 percent on Friday and Saturday.
The National Weather Service has also issued a high rip current risk warning through late tonight for Northeast Florida beaches. Rip currents can pull swimmers away from shore into deeper water. Safety guidance advises floating rather than fighting the current, moving parallel to shore if possible, or signaling for help if unable to escape.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed of the latest weather updates and advisories as conditions may change quickly.
