Under extreme summer heat, a Jacksonville warehouse on Old Kings Road became the site of a major drug seizure by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO). The operation began with surveillance of suspected illegal transactions, which led to the discovery of firearms and the issuance of a search warrant.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, JSO’s SWAT team executed the warrant earlier this month, recovering 34.7 grams of fentanyl—enough for over 17,000 potentially lethal doses—along with 7.2 grams of flakka, crack cocaine, ecstasy, a small amount of marijuana, and two firearms, including an AK-47-style rifle and a handgun.
Four individuals were arrested in connection with the operation: 37-year-old La’Kenya Leavell, 34-year-old Comfort Harris, 36-year-old Dushawn Powell, and 35-year-old Todd Thornton. They face charges related to the use of the warehouse for drug trafficking.
