Yesterday morning in Windermere, a duo of juveniles found themselves ensnared by the law after allegedly embarking on a vehicular escapade. Windermere Police Chief Dave Ogden reported that the pair were suspected of trying to break into multiple vehicles. Around 4 a.m., two "suspicious males" were spotted by officers patrolling near Lake Butler Boulevard, but their approach sent the suspects scattering in opposite directions, as described in a statement obtained by ClickOrlando.
Having called for reinforcements that included Ocoee units, canines, and an aerial unit from the Orange County Sheriff's Office, the police established a perimeter. Chief Ogden, in a statement that was given to the Orange Observer, detailed that one of the juveniles stole a pickup with keys left inside, but promptly hit a dead end. The young driver then attempted to barrel through, ramming into police vehicles before his flight was thwarted, and he was arrested.
The other suspect remained at large for a short time but was eventually taken into custody without incident. Both individuals were transported to the Juvenile Detention Center, marking the swift conclusion to their nocturnal activities. In terms of damage, the patrol vehicles from Windermere and Ocoee PD sustained only minor injuries, a refreshing outcome when one considers the potential consequences of a stolen, ramming truck.
