In ceremonies recognizing the conclusion of their notable careers, the city officially bade farewell to Lori Parker and Todd Morris. The Kannapolis community came together to honor Parker’s nearly two decades and Morris’s 35 years of service, acknowledging their significant contributions in their respective roles.
Parker, who holds an associate’s degree in criminal justice, began her tenure with the department back in 2006 as a Senior Office Assistant in the Criminal Investigations Division. Climbing the ranks, she accepted the position of Police Accreditation Manager/Police Planner in 2010, assisting the department to achieve and consistently maintain national accreditation status. According to the city's announcement, Lori Parker's dedication earned her the Norma C. Howard Memorial Service Award among numerous commendations for her professionalism and dedication.
Having concluded her career, Lori Parker plans to spend more time with her family, including her husband Tommy and daughters Megan and Amanda, focusing on home life.
Todd Morris concluded a long career that began in 1989 as a volunteer firefighter and included becoming one of the first full-time engineers when Kannapolis expanded its fire department in 1997. Over the years, Morris contributed to the department’s operations, serving as a Safety and Logistics Officer. He was recognized as one of the three remaining original twelve engineers during his tenure, reflecting his long-standing service to the Kannapolis community, as described in the city's news release.
As Todd Morris begins his retirement, he plans to spend time with his wife, Tiffany, and their five grandchildren: Jason, Everlee, Eliza, Vander, and Collins. His service to the Kannapolis community and his colleagues will be acknowledged.
