As autumn paints the world in shades of amber and gold, Lafayette Recreation Center is gearing up to host a seasonal festival that promises an array of activities for the community members of all ages. The Lafayette Fall Festival, set for October 18th, invites everyone to partake in the festivities, which include a pumpkin decorating contest, spooky storytime sessions, crafts, and a dance party that will glow in the dark, among other attractions.
The Lafayette Lions Club is putting on a pumpkin decorating contest where participants are encouraged to bring in their pre-decorated pumpkins for a chance to win prizes, the official announcement highlighted drop-off times as October 16 or 17, from 8 am to 5 pm, setting a strict no late entry policy while winners will be announced during the event. Fall Festival goers can also expect balloon animals and sweet treats courtesy of local community partners, making for an enjoyable evening steeped in festive cheer and community spirit.
An unusual twist on typical fall festivities, the so-called 'Pumpkin Plunge' event is scheduled to precede the Fall Festival on the same day, from 4:45 to 5:45 pm. It does, however, bear its own separate registration and fee, as stated by Lafayette Recreation. The unique swim experience carries a charge of $5, and interested participants are urged to pre-register using the code (434605-B) to secure their place in the pool.
