Early this morning, firefighters responded to a blaze in Harbor City, where approximately half an acre of light to medium brush was on fire, according to an LAFD alert. The incident, logged as INC#0291, was reported at 1111 N Figueroa Pl, and the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) quickly managed to extinguish the flames that had been burning slowly without the aid of active winds.
Additional fires in the vicinity were found and put out by firefighters on scene, sparking an investigation into the cause of the fires by both the LAPD (INC#0904) and LAFD Arson units. Despite the initial scare, no injuries were reported in the incident, as per LAFD.
Crews remained diligent, cooling hotspots and establishing a complete bare-soil perimeter to prevent reignition. Firefighters from FS 85, along with Batt 6 and other South Bureau units, contributed to the containment efforts, according to the release.
