Austin Drummond, the man accused of killing four family members in Lake County, Tennessee, appeared before a judge today. During the court session, Drummond's request to contact his girlfriend, who is related to the victims, was denied as the judge refused to lift a restraining order in place. A future court date for Drummond is set for September 4, where he faces numerous charges, including four counts of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm as a felon, according to Action News 5.

Lake County Judge Andrew Cook, talking to Drummond via Zoom, showed restraint, unwilling to modify the protection order without testimony from the family, which had been reported by Local Memphis. Related to the case, three additional suspects, Dearrah Sanders, Brandon Powell, and Tanaka Brown, had court appearances the same day, with Sanders and Brown being charged as accessory after the fact and Powell facing drug possession and criminal conspiracy charges.

Sanders saw her bond lowered to $25,000 during the hearing, an agreement reached between her attorney and prosecutors, Local Memphis reported. Brown also seeks a reduced bond, which a decision yet to be made at his preliminary hearing on September 12. Drummond, alongside his charges stemming from the quadruple homicide, has also drawn the attention of the state, which is seeking the death penalty in his case.

Adding to the narrative, a near miss in capturing Drummond was disclosed by the U.S. Marshals, reported by FOX13 Memphis. Having a lead on Drummond the day after the murders was confirmed by U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller, who stated, "We were within the city limits of Jackson when that attempt was made." Drummond managed to elude authorities until his capture on August 5, after a tense weeklong manhunt that ended near Union University.
