Lake Havasu City has every reason to feel a swell of pride, as Gabby Vera, its very own director of Parks and Recreation, has clinched the designation as the 2025 Young Professional of the Year, courtesy of the Arizona Parks and Recreation Association (APRA), this accolade comes as a testament to Vera's inventive leadership and steadfast commitment to nurturing a high standard of living through the city's parks and recreation avenues, as reported by the official Lake Havasu City government website.
The nod from APRA isn’t Vera's only cause for applause; it seems that she has strung a series of successes this year, having also been named the Robert W. Crawford Young Professional of the Year by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), placing her on the radar as a luminary of promise in her domain on both the regional and national stage, an honor that she finds deeply moving. “It’s incredibly humbling to receive this honor from both my state and national peers,” Vera told the Lake Havasu City official website, “This is a reflection of our amazing Parks and Recreation team here in Lake Havasu City and the supportive community we serve. I’m proud of the work we’re doing and excited for what’s ahead.”
Since taking the helm, Vera has been a dynamo of development, pushing the envelope of recreational programming, sparking community events that span the generational divide, and fortifying the bonds of civic engagement through parks and public spaces.
Her contributions aren’t lost on Jess Knudson, Lake Havasu City Manager, who expressed an unreserved commendation of her work ethic and vision, saying to the Lake Havasu City official website, “Gabby’s impact is undeniable”, adding, she leads with vision, energy, and a genuine passion for community Lake Havasu City is fortunate to have her, and we’re thrilled to see her recognized at both the state and national levels.
