A high-speed chase in Macomb County led to the arrest of a motorcyclist after he attempted to elude police officers and crashed. Terrick Janiszewski, a resident of Lapeer County, was arrested at his workplace following an investigation into the incident that occurred on July 29.

According to a ClickOnDetroit report, the chase began when local police tried to stop the motorcyclist for speeding. The pursuit eventually involved the Shelby Township police, and a Michigan State Police helicopter, which had been tracking the motorcycle from the air, witnessed the crash at the intersection of 32 Mile and Mound roads. Janiszewski fled the scene on foot before authorities arrived; however, the police managed to identify him using the abandoned motorcycle.

Further details provided by the Shelby Township Police Department's Facebook post reveal that detectives recovered personal property at the crash scene that helped trace the motorcycle back to Janiszewski. With the assistance of law enforcement databases, a warrant for his arrest was issued, leading to his apprehension at his place of employment.

"When someone chooses to flee from our officers, they not only put their own life in danger but also risk the safety of everyone on the road," said Shelby Township Chief of Police Robert J. Shelide, per the Shelby Township Police Department. Janiszewski faces a felony charge of third-degree fleeing and eluding and was given a $10,000 cash/surety bond, pursuant to the evidence and investigations led by the Special Investigations Unit.
