In a refreshing blend of community engagement and summer fun, the Las Cruces Police Department's Community Outreach Team has teamed up with Raising Cane's to provide Las Cruces residents with a unique way to cool off and converse with local law enforcement. This collaboration will unfold at the Unidad Park Splash Pad this Thursday, bringing together citizens and officers over lunch and lemonade.
The Lunchbox Lemonade event, scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on August 7, invites the community to connect with police officers in a relaxed, family-friendly setting. Here, discussions on public safety matters can take place amidst the laughter of children playing in the splash pad waters. The gathering not only allows for the exchange of concerns and ideas but also fosters a sense of camaraderie between officers and residents.
A hallmark of summer, the splash pad at Unidad Park, located at 1501 E. Hadley Ave., will serve as the backdrop for these encounters. The Lunchbox Lemonade series has become a staple event, signifying more than just a chance to escape the heat; it is a bridge of understanding, an opportunity for the community to see the faces behind the badges while sharing a moment of reprieve under the summer sun.
The August 7th event marks the penultimate session for the year, with the final Lunchbox Lemonade set for August 21 at Plaza De Las Cruces, according to the Las Cruces Police Department. While attendees are welcome to pack their lunches, they can enjoy the hospitality of law enforcement offering free popsicles, and the generosity of Raising Cane's, which will supply the lemonade at no cost.
