The City of Las Cruces is bidding adieu to the summer schedule and welcoming the fall hours for aquatic facilities, and there's a treat for local swimmers. Those looking to make a splash without splashing the cash can take advantage of a free swim day on Labor Day, September 7. The complimentary dips can be taken at East Mesa Bataan Memorial Pool and Laabs Pool, as detailed in a recent announcement by the city's Parks & Recreation Department.
Swimmers at East Mesa Bataan Memorial Pool, located at 6141 Reynolds Dr., and Laabs Pool, at 750 W. Picacho Ave., can enjoy the free swim from noon to 3 p.m. and 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. on the holiday. The Las Cruces Regional Aquatic Center is also shifting to its autumnal rhythm starting September 7, with open hours from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays, leaving Sundays for closed doors, quiet waves.
According to the City of Las Cruces, splash pads within Las Cruces will have their fun under the sun, albeit with a limited schedule operating only from Friday through Sunday, beginning September 2. Revelers of the refreshing outdoor sprays should note the upcoming closure: these aquatic escapes are set to shutter for the season come September 28, with a promise to rush back into service come Memorial Day weekend of the following year.
