The Las Vegas Aces won their 12th straight game with a 91-85 victory over the Atlanta Dream. A’ja Wilson scored 34 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Jackie Young recorded her second triple-double of the season, according to AP News.
The Aces are now in second place in the league behind the Minnesota Lynx after their latest win. Wilson scored at least 30 points for the 35th time in her career, while Young has scored in double digits in 33 of 39 games this season. During their recent streak, the Aces have outscored opponents by nearly 10 points per game. Coach Becky Hammon said about Young, "You can just trust her with the ball in big-time moments. She's gonna make the right decisions, she's gonna get to the right spots, she's gonna get the ball to the right people at the right time," as reported by The Sporting Tribune.
The Aces are currently a game ahead of the Dream and six behind the Lynx, who they will face again on September 4 after losing to them by 53 points in their previous meeting. The team just completed an eight-game, 16-day road trip with back-to-back games and nearly continuous play since August 2. "We're gonna rest," their coach said. "We're giving them two days. ... I was very concerned with our legs coming into this game, and just our energy level. It was really a gut check," as mentioned by The Sporting Tribune.
